MOUNTAINS AND RIVERS

The whole Hudson Valley is a watershed, with wetlands, creeks and rivulets continually draining into the river, the landscape continually shifting underfoot.

A day in the studio is the same way, like designing on water. The goals seem to shift, from making pictures to making things, but the central responsibility remains the same—to just show up. The great motifs provide a handrail: portrait, still life, landscape. Mountains and Rivers are paint.
