HUNGRY GHOST

This title of this series, Hungry Ghost, is a response to world events, in particular, war. I wanted to conjure something about fear and the cruelty it spawns, and about that just being the way we are. The beauty of the world shines through in shards, as is refracted through the turbulence. In times of suffering we are asked if art makes a difference. What matters is not growing indifferent. Doing the studies, I found myself juxtaposing different paint media, and the word Chimera came to mind, in part for the word's secondary meaning, a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve.
